John shows his work as a member of The Wildlife Art Society International at their annual exhibition at Bristol Zoo Gardens and at Port Lympne as well as other venues regionally. He also welcomes visitors to his studio/gallery at his home in Crowle.

He particularly enjoys painting wildlife in their natural environment working mostly from his field sketches supported by photographic reference. Watercolour is his favourite medium for its softness and subtlety, but he also works in acrylic, oil and pencil. He takes commissions on various subjects and in addition likes to portray the rural landscape and characters around his home, particularly from an historical viewpoint.

John also undertakes a variety of illustrative work, notably 'The Tales of the McDorwuffs' by Avril Rowlands, which he found particularly rewarding as the philosophy of striving to maintain the environment and the endeavour to establish harmony with nature is close to his heart.

In September 2003 John won 'The Christopher Parsons award for artistic excellence' at The Annual exhibition of The Wildlife Art Society at Bristol Zoo Gardens.
