Born in 1974, much of Jonathans childhood was spent in Saudi Arabia where an early interest in nature began. He now lives in England in a quiet hamlet west of Newbury and the surrounding fields, woods and water meadows provide much of the inspiration in his work.
Jonathan has studied art full time since the age of sixteen, he completed a course in Natural History illustration at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art & Design with distinction. As well as working as a full time wildlife artist he also works as a Natural History Illustrator for the agency "Illustration" (formally Garden Studio).
He has exhibited widely in the UK, including the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA), The Wildlife Art Society International (TWASI) and the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art (NEWA). His work has been auctioned at Christie's and he is a founding member of the Marwell Art Society (MAS) - based at Marwell Zoological Park, Hampshire.
His work can also be found at several leading art galleries including The Wildlife Art Gallery - Lavenham, Jonathan Cooper Gallery - London and the Halcyon Gallery - ICC Birmingham.
Over the past several years he has been travelling regularly to the Indian sub-continent with the most recent trip to Sri Lanka. His current portfolio reflects the impressions gained during these visits.
This year Jonathan will also be exhibiting in the prestigious "Birds in Art" exhibition in America.
