Sandra was born in Hertfordshire in 1961 but after travelling extensively settled in Australia in 1972. A self taught artist, she has been involved in the field since she was 16 and with a childhood surrounded by all sorts of wildlife it was inevitable that her life would revolve around their care and protection. Sandra is passionate about saving the environment, flora and fauna, for future generations. Through her art she tries to capture special moments in time for viewers to marvel at, showing them a fleeting glimpse into the ordinary lives of extraordinary animals.
Working in all mediums, Sandra paints all subjects but specialises in the Endangered Species of the world with special attention given to Australia's unique flora and fauna. Many of her works are available in Limited Edition Giclee prints. She teaches drawing and painting to adults and children in classes and workshops and has illustrated 11 books including a series of 8 children's books and had a comic strip 'Shemus' running for 6 years. Sandra is a life member of the Queensland Wildlife Artists Society Inc, and an exhibiting member the Pastel Society of Australia, the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia, the Graphite Society and Nature in the Raw (a group of artists who bring wildlife art to regional areas).
Sandra has won a great many awards and her commissions hang in private and corporate collections in England, Ireland, Switzerland, Japan, China, Korea, America, Canada and Germany as well as Australia and New Zealand. She had two works selected to be part of the Faber-Castell Australian Wildlife Exhibition at Nuremburg, Germany in 2000.
