I paint in acrylics, oil and watercolour, but also enjoy using pencil and pen and ink. My favourite subjects are animals and birds - this includes most wildlife, domestic and farm animals, chickens and birds but I try an occasional still life. When my children were young I trained for three years in a printer's graphics studio and discovered that the more I practised my drawing, the better it became so I'm gradually fulfilling my ambition to find more time to paint and draw. The bonus is that you meet so many talented and interesting people through the classes, art weeks, art trails and exhibitions.
My confidence was boosted when I won The Wildlife Art Society's Bronze Award at a regional exhibition held at Paignton Zoo & Haddon Galleries in April 2002. The painting, in acrylic, featured three Macaws and was titled "Two's Company, Three's a Crowd". This painting was sold during Somerset Art Week 2002. I'm also a member of The Wildlife Art Society International and exhibit and offer paintings for sale at their National Exhibition which is held at Bristol Zoo Gardens in September annually.
I will be exhibiting during the Chew Valley Arts Trail which is taking place again this year on 16th and 17th October. The trail is funded solely by the local artists taking part.
